Kanye West Explains Polished Image; New Outlook on Hip Hop

Grammy-winning rapper Kanye West has opened up about his refreshed outlook in hip-hop and how he may be currently at his best point in the rap game right now.

Speaking with New York radio personality DJ Clue earlier this week, Yeezy discussed his new attitude and what it meant to have the “Rosewood” approach to life.

“That’s the Rosewood mentality, like affluence, like not cursing loud in public, pulling out chairs for your lady, opening up doors…That’s where I’m at at 33 and it’s ill ’cause I’m at this really good emotional, great place in my life, and they’re always saying in hip-hop that you have to be in a dark place to make great hip-hop. I feel like I rap better than I’ve ever rapped at this point. I be writing raps and I don’t even realize how positive they are. They just sound like regular good negative raps.” (Rap-Up)

Recently, Ye revealed he no longer was dating model Amber Rose, however, explained what positive lessons he learned from their time together.

“Yeah man, it was an amazing time and it came to an end,” West said in an interview with radio host Angie Martinez. “One of the greatest things that she showed me was just to be a nicer person because she was so disconnected from the concept of celebrity when I first met her…A celebrity could be talking to people crazy and everyone’s used to it at the label like, ‘He’s wildin’ out. It doesn’t matter.’ [Amber] be like, ‘What?! You just talked to your fans so crazy right now. I’m not even talking to you right now.’ … I grew from that. I think that was the greatest growth that I got from that experience…My goal in life is to really have an amazing woman and have a family, but I think I had to go through these different things to grow…That was a one-off…I’m not trying to dive into anything unless I really, really think that I can marry this person. I look at this person and I say, ‘This is how I want my daughter to be.'” (Hot 97)

Earlier this month, Yeezy said he is in a state of “joy” and his upcoming untitled album would reflect his inward journey.

“Everyone says all great art comes from pain but I think my greatest art comes from excitement and joy. It’s a completely different perspective about being extremely excited about stuff that is only cool to me,” West said in a recent Rolling StoneMTV) office visit. “Like, when I tweeted, ‘What’s your credenza game?’ I was very excited about that credenza…It was important to not be limited by the art form of rap but to have rap bring it to another level. Is it rap or is it poetry? Is it spoken word? Is it [a] speech?” (MTV)

Despite his positive outlook, Ye recently tweeted how difficult this past year has been for him.

“People are so scared of pain hurt and embarrassment that no one takes risk anymore … I’ve made so many mistakes that made me better today,” Kanye wrote Thursday (August 5).

“I’ve been hurt and embarrassed but I still believe in good will. Give of yourself with no fear and one day he’ll have you in the clear.”

“He returns the blessings you give 10 fold. I feel God’s light shining through my darkest year of my life and career. I feel the glow again.”

“I will be a better man, friend, role model, citizen, blogger, tweeter, artist, creator, giver, thinker, motivator and person. IFEELTHEGLOW.” (Kanye West’s Twitter
